About our new site

Our new web is set up to allow community members to be active participants. Its necessary to have an account on our new site to become an active participant. The rest is easy.
An account is necessary to create stories, events, add photos, blogs, and to use the online event volunteer management sytem. If you would like to participate please request an account by contacting Gordon Holtslander at gordon.holtslander@usask.ca.
Only members of our community will be given accounts. An account provides one with a username and a password. These are used to "log-in" to our site. At the bottom left of the site there is a user login section.
One logs in by entering their username and password and clicking on the "log in" button. A person who logs into our site is given the ability to contribute material on our site. Its not necessary to login to view our site. The web site identifies and keeps track who made contributions and comments through a person's account. Only a person who made a contribution can change or delete the contribution. The web site administrators can also change or delete contributions to the site. If you would like a "hands-on" instructional session on contributing to this site, please contact Gordon Holtslander. (see email address below)
Once you have an account you will be able to post notes in our "News & Notes from community" section, post events on the calendar, particpate in our forums, post recipes, and comment on other postings in our site. To create content on our site click the create content link in the menu on the left side of the page. You are presented with a number of options. Please don't be afraid to try posting something. If you are unhappy with anything you post - you can delete it :)
Story - selecting this will allow you to create a small note in the "News & Notes from community" section. Please select a category to add your story to. Other members can comment on the stories posted in this section. Please delete your story when you feel it is no longer relevant.
Event - selecting this will create a note about an event, and place the event on our calender. Event with volunteer time slots. - selecting this will create a note about an event, with the ability to set up time slots that other members can volunteer to fill. The event will appear on our calendar.
Forum Topic - This will allow you to create a new topic in the forum section of our site. There are a number of forums areas set up. If you would like additional forum areas please contact Gordon Holtslander. If you participate in a forum - please be polite - we are free to disagree - but it must be done is a respectful manner. Please see the Forums sections to view the current forum topics.
Recipe - you can post a recipe.
